FRANKLIN, TN (July 8, 2011) -- Big Idea Entertainment, a leading studio and producer of children’s and family programming, characters and brands, announced today they will release a brand-new DVD title, VeggieTales®: The Little Drummer Boy, on October 1 and October 4, 2011 in Christian and general market stores respectively.
VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy is a heartwarming tale that retells the classic The Little Drummer Boy story. Based on Ephesians 4:32, which says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you,” the DVD offers a timeless message of hope during the holiday season, and will feature multi-Grammy and Dove Award-winning artists BeBe and CeCe Winans, singing their version of the iconic “The Little Drummer Boy” song. Additional music will include original songs such as, “Can’t Smile Without Ewe,” and the all-new silly song, “The 8 Polish Foods of Christmas.” The title includes special bonus content and activities and helps to teach the important lessons about giving to others and the power of forgiveness.
VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy is supported by a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign, with licensing and promotional partners on board as well, including World Vision®, Brothers All-Natural® and Good Health Foods® among others. Big Idea Entertainment also plans to host a series of live events nationwide at select retailers and churches to coincide with the DVD release date.

DVD Synopsis
In this Veggie-version of a holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy, a lonely child who finds the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. A story of generosity, hope and love, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

The VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy marketing and advertising campaign will focus on national print, television, radio, online, social media and grassroots team promotions. Big Idea Entertainment will organize television promotions and sweepstakes based on the title driving consumers to retail locations with various account specific promotions. A DVD trailer promotion will be shown on more than 1,500 theater screens in November. A targeted TV media tour with artists BeBe and CeCe Winans will also take place this holiday season.

Big Idea Entertainment and Brothers-All-Natural® will coordinate a special five dollars off rebate offer by mail for consumers who purchase both the new DVD and one of the Brothers-All-Natural select Fruit Crisp products. The VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy DVD box art and mention of the rebate promotion will appear on approximately two million Fruit Crisp bag packages, and a call-out of the rebate program will also be printed on 250 Floor Displays in select grocery store locations in November and December.
In addition, Big Idea Entertainment will also team up with Veggie Stix® products for a similar five dollars off rebate offer by mail. The DVD box art will be featured on 750,000 packages across four of their different flavors, and Good Health Foods® will promote the title at multi-store grocery chains including A&P/Pathmark, Bi-Lo, Giant, Kroger, Safeway, SuperValu and more.
More than 500 Chuck E. Cheese’s® restaurants nationwide will promote VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy with clips from the title and the silly song, “The 8 Polish Foods of Christmas,” on closed-circuit televisions and in the birthday party areas on jumbo screens. Select Big Boy Restaurants® locations in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio will also promote the new DVD through the holiday season on a total of 375,000 kids’ activity books which will feature key characters from the title.

A line of VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy consumer products will roll out starting this October. Live Events
Beginning in October through the winter holiday season, more than 2,000 churches nationwide will host events to screen VeggieTales: The Little Drummer Boy, and nearly 500 Christian retail outlets will coordinate “Christmas Spectacular” screening events to coincide with the October 1 DVD release date.
Furthermore, Big Idea will host an exclusive screening of The Little Drummer Boy Monday, July 11 at the 2011 International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Atlanta. The premiere is open to all ICRS registrants, as well as local media.
